Come Experience Shenanigans At The Iowa State Fair!
The legend begins as Georgemanus McGrath, an Irish farmer who lived on the land where the Iowa State Fair sits, was plowing his land. Georgemanus was feeling sorry for himself. You see, he never had the best of luck and was feeling as though maybe farming wasn’t even the life he was supposed to be living. As he struck down mightily with his plow, he hit something hard and unmovable. It was a peculiar stone.
Georgemanus was angry. He cursed the rock and felt like it was another reason to maybe just give up farming. Just when he was about to walk away, he thought to himself, I guess can just kiss this farming life goodbye. And in a moment where he was feeling silly, he knelt down and kissed the stone goodbye too...
Unbelievingly to Georgemanus the next few days he felt his luck begin to change. He met a woman who was suddenly enamored with him. His farm animals began producing more milk, eggs, and meat than he could handle. Soon Georgemanus was swimming in gold coins and became one of IA’s prominent farmers.
He soon realized the luck that turned to his side came from when he kissed that stone. He and his wife, Malark, together with the townspeople, dug out the stone and kept it safe for hundreds of years. The owners of this bar are descendants of Georgemanus and Malark, and they have graciously brought the Malarkey Stone back to its original location right here at the Iowa State Fair.
Now Iowa State Fair patrons can kiss the stone and be blessed with the luck of the Malarkey Stone!
